Tom Langley, known professionally as Freethos, is a producer, engineer and artist whose career spans the recording and electronic music worlds. As a specialist in vinyl mastering and lacquer cutting, his credits include releases from artists such as Bowling for Soup, Fatboy Slim and Ren alongside a diverse catalogue of production work for independent artists and labels.

In addition to his mastering work, Tom collaborates as a producer, recording and mix engineer, bringing more than 20 years of professional studio experience to artists working across electronic music, jazz and alternative pop. His studio work has also included curating and producing soundtracks for music driven fitness brands With U and MVMNT.

Long before stepping into the studio, Tom's career began as DJ on the London breakbeat scene. Whilst selling vinyl at HMV's former flagship store in Oxford Circus, Tom shared line-ups with artists including Subsource, Freq Nasty and Atomic Hooligan. He has been a longtime presenter of radio and resident DJ with Tunnel Crew Sound System, helping to produce the Off The Rails stage at Illusive Festival from 2014 to 2019.

Comfortable moving between the arenas of performance, production and engineering, these influences shape the sound and aesthetic of his artist project, Freethos. Blending electronic music with detailed production and immersive sound design, the project explores the spaces where bass, rhythm and community collide.

Driven by the same curiosity that's shaped his career, Tom holds a Master's degree in Music and Audio Production (BNU, 2025), where his research focused on immersive audio production techniques in electronic music. That research continues to influence both his production work and the evolving Freethos sound.

Whether producing an artist, cutting a lacquer for vinyl or working on the next Freethos release, Tom is driven by the same goal: making records that connect with people.
