Tom Langley, better known to many as Tom Freethos is an electronic music Producer, DJ and Educator. His work includes production and remixes for various artists and independent labels, as well as releases under his Freethos alias. As a DJ Tom has played some of London’s best-loved clubs and venues. He has also played a number of major festivals with artists including Dutty Moonshine, Rico Tubbs and the Freestylers.

In addition to his studio work Tom has dedicated much of his career to inspiring others through music education. Specialising in Ableton Live and the Maschine software.

He has worked with award winning organisations including Readipop, Pointblank Music School, and the music tech developer Native Instruments.

Full Bio 

After a few years playing Tenor Trombone in orchestras at school Tom was swept up by the booming 90s dance culture. He swapped brass for bass, soaking up the original sounds of Hardcore, Jungle and House.
His journey by DJ started in 1996. Channelling these early influences into DJ sets he performed under the guise of TSL, initially playing at underground free parties. The explosion of UK Garage a couple of years later saw Tom land his first club residency at the age of 17. Warming up for bass line pioneers including DJ EZ, Deekline, Matt Jam Lamont and DJ Luck & MC Neat.

Tom soon became a dedicated collector and selecta of bass-driven music. After landing a coveted role buying and selling vinyl for HMV in London’s Oxford Circus, he went on to become Label Manager at Intergroove for Finger Lickin records, Fat! and Marine Parade.

Playing a boom-selection of Breaks, Bass and Electro throughout the 2000s, Tom Freethos firmly established himself on a circuit of London and orbital events. Clubs such as Vice Versa, Thump and Imaginarium. And the now legendary Planet Angel parties at Hidden, Fire and Club Colosseum. With his partner in beats, Wax Equestrian, Tom in no stranger to radio. Hosting regular shows on the pirate station PointBlank FM, NSB Radio and London Live and Direct.


Toms production career began while studying Sound Engineering and Music Technology, discovering the powerful new world of Ableton Live. A handful of releases and remixes followed under his Freethos alias. This led to production work for the Dust Junkys, MC Tunes of 808 State, Earth Connection and the formidable Punk-ravers The Dirty Rich. Toms debut release was the ‘Get Radikal’ EP out on Allowance records in 2015. The title track being signed to the ground breaking Sequential Music series. Two EPs followed in 2016 – the ‘FM EP’ featuring Sabrina Findlay on ‘Just Ride’ and the three track ‘Greed EP’.
Toms work has since included releases, production and engineering for independent labels Micro Spiral, Aquamelon Records and Doin Work. Recent collaborations with vocalist Sabrina Findlay saw some experimentation focussed on songs with ‘The Medicine’ due for a release in 2019. In addition to his releases Tom is a creator for the sample library Noiiz, and offers production services through Charborough Media.
Looking beyond the dance floor Toms diverse work as an electronic writer/composer has also been used on TV in documentaries on Channel 4 and Sky.


Developing teaching skills in 2009 Tom has since been passing on his industry knowledge in non-formal education. Inspiring others through music, working with a number of youth music organisations. This features work on Readipops Urban Orchestra project fusing young classical musicians with DJs, Producers and MCs. A project culminating in shows at Readings Hexagon Theatre and the Stables in Milton Keynes. He worked with the acclaimed Point Blank Music School in London on their outreach programme. As well as Soundstudio and Creative Partnerships in the Thames Valley. In that time Tom as also provided tailored tuition and is developing a new series of video tutorials.

With an unlimited passion for new technology, and the discovery of sound Tom continues to inspire others through education, creative production and performance. Since 2017 Tom has worked with the music tech developer Native Instruments on their Native Meeetup programme in the UK.
